Esben Rahbek Gjerdum Pedersen is professor at the CBS Center for Corporate Social Responsibility, Copenhagen Business School and does research within the areas of corporate social responsibility (CSR), environmental management, and non-financial performance measurement. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a self-regulatory business model practiced by large and small companies.The concept allows businesses to be socially accountable to their stakeholders and the public. The purpose of this article is to develop a model of how managers perceive the responsibilities of business towards society. The article is based on the survey responses of more than 1,000 managers in eight large international firms.
